I'm thinking I might check in monthly and say how the weather's been and how we feel about it, since Seattle has such a reputation.
Today, ironically enough, is the first day we've had rain other than a small sprinkle over night. Today is a light but steady rain ever since mid morning.
It's also cold.
But before that, the past two weeks plus, it's been quite sunny. Days of all sun all the time, when it gets a bit hot by late afternoon, and days with cool cloudy mornings that turn into sunny afternoons.
As in Austria, the late sunset makes it hard to put the kids to bed. We haven't bothered with blackout curtains here, though. We're just putting them to bed late (like, 9 or 9:30). This is working out (it would be too hot in their attic bedroom before then many days, anyway), although they are going to need some extra sleep once the sun goes away. We all will, I'd say.
Happily, for a knitter (and for someone who grew up with summer nights that sometimes didn't slip below 90 before starting to climb again), we have worn sweaters for at least the early morning pretty much every single day.
But it's really weird to be sitting here the first week of August and thinking, at 4 in the afternoon, that I really would be more comfortable in my shearling slippers.
This is a good climate for Alex, I'll say that. He seems quite happy.
In knitting news, Shmoogie requested different buttons on her new sweater.
