In the last week of Mr. P's school, when Shmoogie was already out for the summer, we planted a little collection of containers together, since she loves growing things so much. I was tired, and lifting big bags of soil at that point had to be taken carefully, but we spread it out over several days and we had a good time.
Of course, this is the child who loves lettuce. Now she also loves kale, at least the baby leaves that are showing up at the moment. Always one to hang around whenever I bring out the chopping board, asking to try everything and snitching piece after piece of the stuff she likes (yellow peppers, tomatoes, and cucumbers), she's now doing the same in the garden. She sampled basil (didn't like it), mint (didn't like it, until we turned it into sweetened tea later), cilantro (loved it), and kale (eaten in large chomps because "I know I love kale!!").
I take zero credit. Mr. P still has a raging fit if we try to get him to eat anything outside his ~6-food comfort zone, so it can't be anything I've done.
