This weekend, Mr. P lost his SECOND tooth. We watched a Harry Potter movie (asking him several times, because we were honestly confused, "Is this how it happens in the book?" His answers were confident and most likely correct) while I sewed him this little felt pillow.
He beamed when I gave it to him. He *interrupted watching the movie* to beam! And then he asked me to make him a "Harry Potter stuffed animal" like that sometime.
Shmoogie, though, was maybe not so satisfied. A few days later she said we had to make a new pillow for him with a bigger pocket so he could get more money!
Edited to add: You're right, MarMar, this is my own pattern. But it's not very original, so I wasn't going to bother posting a pattern (total tangent: I do think it's funny that a "tooth shape" has almost as little relation to a real tooth as a "heart shape" has to an anatomical heart, but we all seem to agree that this is a tooth shape and so do the kids, so I guess it works!).
There are lots of tooth fairy pillow projects and tutorials on the web that are very similar. I didn't have much white felt, so this is fairly small (thus, the pocket being barely big enough for a quarter). It's a lot smaller than most of the examples I think I saw while I was browsing for inspiration! I do like my little twist of making the pocket like a smiling mouth. I don't think I saw that anywhere, I think it just came to me as I was putting it together and the pocket looked like a mouth, so I decided to embroider around it.
