My boy, you are six, and that is a very big deal. You are all about the cake and the candles and the presents (you were very sweet this morning, excited about everything, even the books and even the game your little sister picked out for you). Your mother, though, is bewildered by how this could be.
I remember so vividly the waiting for you to be born. The trials and joys of the day you came and the days and nights of your babyhood. But it's true, it is starting to seem like not quite yesterday.
If childhood is a three-act deal, we find ourselves done with Act I, the curtain is lifting on Act II and, oh boy, what have we got in store?!
Love you so much,
Mom

And I'm now remembering sleeping in the living room with "Mr Grunt" when he was just a few weeks old and Mr. Right was away and Mother Patience needed some help. I'd forgotten about calling him "Mr. Grunt". He really did grunt for those first few weeks.
On to Act II indeed! Thanks so much for taking us all along for the show!
