Kindergarten, it turns out, comes with "homework".
Mr. Pants was over it by the second day.
"Come on," I tried to sound enticing, "You just have to draw a picture!"
"Eh, I don't want to."
"Well, we can't watch tv until it's done."
He sat down and grabbed a red crayon from the box without really looking. "It says draw a picture of where you found the gingerbread men today," I explained, then left him alone, since that's usually the way to get things done without tears and yelling.
"I'm done!" he called out thirty seconds later.
Does he know how cleverly he non-cooperated right out of that? Does he know that I know? Does his teacher know? Hmmmm.

Oh gosh! You may have years of fun ahead of you.

This is a child who will not like stupid homework. Nor will he do it if he does not see a reason. Good luck with the reasons. Should be a good challenge for his teachers.
