As I started to sing the last bedtime song last night, Mr. WorriedPants said, "I want you to stay with me." I'm going to sing this song and then I'm going to go; you'll be fine. "I don't want to be alone!" Why not? "Because I might be scared." Oh. Why would you be scared? "Because I don't like to be alone." Well, what are you afraid might happen if you're alone? "I'm afraid someone will open the door when I'm sleeping and come in and roar at me!"
Happy to be dealing with such a simple (if unexpected) concern, I explained all the logical reasons that no one was going to open his door and roar at him while he was sleeping and eventually he seemed a little less worried. Then, halfway through the first verse of the song, I had an idea.
Would you feel better if there were a sign on your door that said "DO NOT ROAR"?
He slept quite well.
